Blesfontein Guest Farm (Unit 7) (Second Honeymoon suite)

Since 2000, when the first two self-catering units were opened on Blesfontein, we have made many friends, laughed with many happy families, celebrated many 40th birthdays, cried with many broken hearts and, in the process, learnt so much about life, but most of all, we’ve learnt how thankful we must be for living on this farm.

Blesfontein is situated 28 km south west of Sutherland. We offer 10 fully equipped self-catering units.

Each unit has an inside- and outside fire place for cooking or to enjoy the heat of a cosy “kaggel” fire in winter. The kitchens are equipped with electric and/or gas stoves.
Most of the units were stone built stables which we converted into rather unique accommodation units. The others were old farm buildings converted for convenience, without losing their character.

In the farm yard your children can bottle feed lambs (when in season) and feed our horses, chickens, pigs and geese. They can collect eggs, ride their mountain bikes, swim in the farm dam, meet our small Alpaca herd or milk the goat, Bella. In the unlikely event of Karoo rain, or when you are trapped in a snowstorm (we do sometimes get snow in winter!), you can play table tennis, watch television or play board games in our communal dining room.

At night, Nicol takes our visitors stargazing in our amateur observatory where we have two telescopes. Stargazing included for Blesfontein guests. NO extra costs.

Die Stal and Damara Cottage

‘Die Stal’ is a small family house built with stone, situated in Sutherland. A cozy stone cottage with a warm fireplace for Sutherland’s coldest winters. Fully equipped for self-catering and sleeps up to 5 people. Perfect for a family getaway or a romantic escape. The cottage is also situated in a quiet area, so you can indulge in the Karoo’s tranquility.
This lovely cottage is one of a kind - a newly renovated building with elements from yesteryear reused inside - for eg. all the wooden beams and stones from the original building (milk stable) are up-cycled inside the cottage as well. Wooden beams were re-used as a beautiful kitchen cupboard and stones were used in mosaic against the walls.

Damara Cottage is an Annex cottage at die Stal and sleeps 4 persons. Newly renovated. Most welcome.
