In 1609 GALILEO GALILEI made a public demonstration of the first scientifically constructed telescope. Today thousands of tourists come to the small town of SUTHERLAND to visit the largest telescope in the Southern Hemisphere, called SALT. A 110 km tarred road from the N1 turn-off at Matjiesfontein will bring you here and arriving here, GALILEO COTTAGE will be the place that you’ll want to stay. Whereas GALILEO proclaimed the earth moves around the sun, GALILEO claims that with them THE EARTH MOVES AROUND YOUR COMFORT.
