Tjol se Gat
A stop at Tjol se Gat, situated in the Verlatenkloof Pass, 21 kilometers before Sutherland on the tarred road from Matjiesfontein offers a unique experience to have a cold one in summer or a sherry in winter before you get to town.
Tjol converted the old toll house into a pub and curio shop - when you stop there, please ask him to show you the last toll register dating back to 1906.
